> Album 1: AERO FAIR A selection of photos from the 2009 Aero Fair, followed by several photos from our 2008 Aero Fair.
> Album 2: A VISIT FROM CHANNEL 3 NEWS As it's rather unique that the Payson Airport has a campground -- Scott Passmore filmed a segment on it for Channel 3 News. The campground consists of 12 campsites, showers, grills, wood, and picnic tables. It is strictly for our "fly-in guests" and available to them at no charge.
> Album 3: PAINT THE ROCKS! Paint the Rocks is an annual event to honor the past. In years prior to GPS and Navigational Radios, there were Airway Markers (circa 1930s). A group from Payson found the marker several years ago and asked for permission to keep the tradition that was set back in the 30s. Every August a group of pilots drive up to the Rim where the PHX - 75 mi. marker is spelled out in Rocks -- and we paint them! We generally spend 1 -3 days, have a huge barbeque and a wonderful time!
> Album 4: JULY 4th 2008 Flying the "American Flag" on July 4th was awesome this year! Thanks to Hawkeye Mathews, town residents had an 'eagles eye view' of Old Glory as she flew high in the sky. Hawkeye is certified to tow banners and has a large crew to assist him. He flies a 1978 Pawnee (used in the old days as a crop duster plane).
> Album 5: AN AIRPORT FOR ALL SEASONS! A potpourri of photos from snowfalls to sunsets.
> Album 6: YOUNG EAGLES DAY 2009 Experimental Aviation Association pilots fly kids from 8-18 for free. It's an opportunity to introduce kids to aviation.
> Album 7: 3-MILE ROAD 'CLEAN-UP' Payson Pilots Association, our local EAA Chapter and the airpark homeowners gather quarterly to clean our three mile stretch of road. There's always food involved, thanks to Paul Pitkin and Charley Todd, flipping pancakes, cooking sausage and eggs. Gotta bring a dish before you can share, however! A combined meeting follows the clean up and breakfast.
> Album 8: SATURDAY MORNING VISITORS We get great visitors on the weekends to have breakfast at the Crosswinds. The group shown in this album is the CF Flyers. Walt Miller, who owns the yellow and white Piper. said some of the group is based at Falcon Field, with the rest based at Dear Valley.
> Album 9: TENANT'S AND THEIR TOYS! Little silver airplane, up in the sky -- Where are you going to, flying so high? Over the mountains, over the sea -- little silver airplane, please take me!
> Album 10: FOREST SERVICE HELICOPTERS! The Forest Service helicopters are based at Payson airport during the summer months in the event of a fire. This was the case in June/July, 2004, during the Willow Fire.
> Album 11: HAPPY BIRTHDAY "BOB WALKER"
Bob & Mary Walker's Annual birthday
party for Bob. Attended by Payson RV clubs, Payson Car Clubs,
Payson Aviation Community and the Mazatzal Mountain Airpark
Community.
> Album 12, 13 & 14: CHRISTMAS PARTY AT GERARDO'S ITALIAN BISTRO
Our
Annual Christmas Party was held
on Monday, December 7, 2009 at Gerardo's Italian Bistro Restaurant
in Payson. Gerardo and his staff have been hosting the Payson
Pilots Association's Christmas dinners for several years and always
do a superb job ~ from serving a superior dinner right down to the
smallest details when it comes to making this a fantastic evening
for all of us. About 45 guests attended and enjoyed yet
another year of friendship with fellow sky adventurers. There
were "Toys for Tots", a "White Elephant Gift Steal" and an
overwhelming amount of good old fashion "Christmas Spirit"!
-- so much in fact that it foiled the dastardly deeds of the 'Grinch'
who slipped in and tried to steal all of the gifts!! > Airport Personnel > PRAA History > Mission > Communication > Objectives > Safety > Aviation opportunities for youth via Aero Fair > Economic Responsibility > Future Plans > Volunteerism > Non-Profit Status > PRAA: Calendar/Agenda/Meeting Minutes
